Mock Examinations

Mock examinations are an excellent tool for preparing for examinations and the ICB strongly suggests that every student should attempt a mock examination. This will give you a good idea of what the actual examination will be like and will assist you in knowing at what speed you will need to work in order to complete the examination.

Please be aware that each examination and mock examination can only cover part of the ICB syllabus and you should therefore not assume that because a topic has been omitted from the mock examination it will not appear in the examination itself. Understanding of the full ICB syllabus is essential.

There are three types of mock examination: Printed, Downloaded, Online.

Printed

Printed mocks are copies of previous examination papers which are no longer in circulation.  Copies are posted out to you together with a set of model answers.  Although many of the ICB examinations are now being adapted to become online tests, these printed mocks will still assess your knowledge of the syllabus and give you a very good idea of the sort of questions you will expect to see in the actual examination. Our members tell us that even after being qualified these printed mocks act as a valuable refresher. 

Downloaded

These are the same papers as above but emailed to you in Pdf format to save on postage times and costs. When you purchase a Download mock, either online or by telephone, you will immediately receive an email giving you a link to access and download the mock examination and its model answers.

Online In addition to the printed or downloaded mocks, you can opt to complete an Online Mock for the following examinations: Level I Certificate in Basic Bookkeeping Level II Certificate in Manual Bookkeeping Level III Diploma in Manual Bookkeeping These mocks differ because they are timed to give you a proper run-through of the examination experience. The actual examination for the Level I Certificate in Basic Bookkeeping is completed at home using the ICB's Online Examinations platform, so it will look and feel exactly like the mock. The Level II and III manual examinations are delivered through the ICB's network of 5,200 centres around the world.  These examinations are completed on computers using a slightly different platform from the ICB mock papers.  The mock paper has been designed to simulate the centre-based test but you may notice differences to the aesthetics and general appearance. Once you have purchased a mock examination you will immediately receive an email giving you an access link. The link will remain valid for a period of 28 days. You may attempt the mock examination once only. However, you are at liberty to print the paper from the screen for future reference. After you have completed the mock examination you will receive a FREE report listing all the questions, the answers you gave together with the model answers.
