Dear all,
ICB are aware that several of our members who use Facebook to advertise their practices have been contacted by Meta and asked to provide their FCA registration number.
It would appear that this is causing problems across the board for accountants and bookkeepers alike. Obviously in Britain Financial Services are not accounting or bookkeeping and as such it is clearly stated on the FCA website "Professional firms such as accountants are not required to register with FCA"
I have spent time today trying to contact Meta (Facebook) to try and get a resolution to this issue but it is proving extremely hard to get through to anyone.
As soon as we have an update we will let all members know. In the meantime if you receive communication from facebook and are able to pass on their details to me, or mine to them I'd be very grateful (lucy.brown@bookkeepers.org.uk)
