Personally, I find this area the most challenging and consuming aspect of running a practice. Anyone care to share any tips / advice on how you keep your practice running smoothly?

Dear Tony

I am trying to find a system to help manage the workload of the practice, did you find any systems or software to help make this easier?

Thanks

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

I use a software package called Amphis Customer.  It is a customer relationship management package, but I've found with a little tweaking it's ideal for bookkeepers.  It helps me manage telephone calls and corrospondence with clients, it lets me prepare quotes, invoices and statements.  Recently they added a feature to text clients.  It records tasks and can add tasks to customers records weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually meaning it can remind you when VAT returns etc are due.  When you recieve letter from clients, or even their ID you can scan it and link it to their files.

All this comes at less than £100.  I'd love to be able to add workflows with it, but as yet it's not possible.  You can download a 60 day trial to see if it suits you.

Hi,
If it's a contact management system your thinking of have you had a look at Sage Act? Ouch.... I can hear the screams  about how expensive Sage products are. Last time I looked Sage Act RRP was £190 including Sage cover support and a training voucher.

On a different subject, is there a reliable web designer out there ??? I could do with one.. been let down twice recently.

If you are a member of Sage Accountants club act pro is included as part of your membership. I also use Sage Practice Solution.  You can link to Sage 50 Accounts, Payroll, Taxation ect only have to enter client details once and updates all other programs. Has engagment and t&C ect template set up.

Hope this helps
