I fear I may be losing my marbles.

I'm positive that this morning when using this software I was able to run reports and either preview, email, print to file or print to printer.
Well I'm staggered to discover when I try to view a supplier report, having selected just one supplier this afternoon I only get the option to print Surprised

I've tried the other ledgers and the same thing happens.

I've closed and re-opened the program, even switched off the wretched computer and started up again and none of its made any difference.

PLEEEEEASE, any ideas?

.... and before anyone asks, no this is most certainly NOT the Friday joke. Yell

Hi, Is the generate report button and box greyed out and printer is shown, or is box selectable but only printer option is avalable from the list?

If greyed out, maybe that a report has not been selected yet. If the latter, sorry, but not com across the problem

Thanks for your ideas Dave, but I now discover that there is some sort of problem with perhaps a conflict somewhere (Windows 7).  I downloaded a mighty patch for that, tried Sage again and guess what ..... now only got the preview option Yell and no printer.  I'm going to have to bite the bullet and contact Sage with a view to upgrading or at least find out if they are still supporting my version running under Windows 7.

Bring back the Bob Cratchet ledgers I say .. and the quill pen, candlelight and one bit of coal on the fire. Wink

Hi Faye

I had similar problems with Sage Instant v14 and my new PC with windows 7. Sage told me I have to upgrade to latest version(v16) as not compatable.

I was suitably not impressed.Yell

Right, thanks Kate, that more or less clinches it.  I'm going to have to upgrade or look elsewhere.  This is annoying as it will cost a fortune when I don't need to spend it, software version is more than adequate for my requirements yet I have to buy it again just because b**%*$* Microsoft have been fiddling again. Spit, spit ..Yell

Hi Fay

It could be your printer, as you have not said which printer you are using, there are loads of printer drivers that don,t work on windows 7.   A lot of my clients have had loads of problems with window 7 and Various software .   It is even worse then Vista and that was hard thing to do.  I changed to Apple years ago as I got sick of microsoft updates and I see adobe is at it every 5 minutes as well. But do have window for clients who want it I am about 50:50 at the moment .

Just to say , sage where having a problem with PDf printers for Windows 7 but that was all which resolved a while back.  I would ring sage to totally uninstall your software, every little file including the  ini file.

Do not use the uninstall button as it does not get rid of every file.  I am on the sage user group and this sounds more like an installation issue rather then windows 7.  I had version 2008 on windows 7 and it was fine.  I upgrade every year anyway, as there is always improvements in software.  Sage are not angels,  but there as been a lot of issues with windows 7 should have stayed with XP.

You never said a truer word.  Thanks for your info. Sarah  Unfortunately as I don't have a support contract with Sage (previously was an accountant's club member but hardly used any of the stuff) they won't speak to me unless I agree to buy something, be it a support contract or software.
I'm pretty sure there is a conflict wih Windows 7 rather than an installation problem as such.  Have been using this for more years than I care to remember. Wink

After buying a new comp with W7 and reinstalling Sage Prof 2008 I am unable to print to email - tried various options from Sage to no avail and have finally given up due to last, rather silly answer - People across the country are having same prob according to the forums.

Turns out that the software (ayumni or something) Sage use for their pdf (reporting printing) is a major problem - I thought that after a year of W7 and complaints they might have succeeded in sorting it but they havent and I really dont want to keep taking my computer back to zero again - it'll muck it big style eventually.

I refuse to upgrade on principle with sage so guess I'm stuck with printing and scanning :-(

All new clients will go onto VT+, but I need to keep sage for bigger client for invoicing etc.

p.s. I dont have support either but Sage did partake in emails with me.

Good luck

Just download CutePDF (or something similar) its free.  You end up with a virtual printer so you just print the report from Sage using the CutePDF and it produces a PDF file.  I have been using PDF this way for years, across all sifferent programmes - saves scanning.

Surprised Thanks Anne.  Interesting my CuteFTP - slightly different I know - also will not work under W7.
I know there are various ways, exporting etc. to get reports from Sage, but I have paid for a working product and I expect it to work without having to be 'inventive'.

Many thanks though Anne, that is helpful.
