Hi All,

I have recently joined as a member. I am in the process of setting up my own practice. Marketing is very difficult for me, can anyone give me any tips?

I have recently had flyers printed targeted for the small to medium businesses - how should i distribute these? what is the likelihood of getting any clients?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Repeating what I wrote elsewhere ...

A website doesn't need to be expensive if you do it yourself.  You can download something like WYSIWYG Web Builder free to build your site (even if you get the license it's not pricey).  There are plenty of free or cheap hosting services (mine - Free Virtual Servers - costs about £30 per year).

Other ideas are to take out the free listings in Yell.com and FreeIndex.  If you set up FreeIndex correctly they will even notify you when someone in your area is looking for a bookkeeper and give you the opportunity to apply.

Vistaprint also can help a lot.  You can get lots of freebies (including a website and flyers) from them.  Bits I've got from them include car door magnets (showing my business name and phone number), free business cards and a vinyl banner that I've put in my office window which attracts a lot of customers.

Good luck!

Thanks for your response Liz.  I have built a website through gbbo.co.uk paying no cost for two years.

I will take up your advice on the free listings.

Cheers
