Understand the ICB career path

Hello,

Please could someone help me?

Looking at the ICB syllabuses I see that there are 2 level 2's -

Manual bookkeeping
Computrised bookkeeping

And in level 3 there are 6 level 3's, but two of them are as above. Do I need to complete both level
2's and all the 6 level 3's -

Manual bookkeeping
computerised bookkeeping
Payroll management
Self assessment in tax returns
Small business financial control
Legal bookkeeping

To become a member of the ICB (MICB) do I need to complete all of these level 3's ?

Thank you in advance for your help

I could be wrong here but no....

you need both lv2's to be an associate member and the two main lv3's (manual and computerised bookkeeping) before you can apply to be a full member.

The other lv 3's are not un-useful however as they open more areas that one can work in - given relevent experience.

Someone will be along to correct me soon :)  But that is my understanding.

Hi Anj and Theresa

I have just arrived to correct Theresa's posting <-----------------only joking

Theresa is 100% correct from September in order to become an Associate member you will have to complete both computerised and manual courses at level 2

To become a full member yu have to have completed both computerised and manaual courses at level 3.

If you want to offer Payroll or Self Assessment you must pass those qualifications and subscribe to those services however it is possbile to be a associate and offer payroll and Self Assessment as you can do those modules stand alone and do not have to have completed the Level 3 computerised and manual exams.

In order to progress to Fellow you have to complete Level 1 through 4 and the payroll and self assessment exams.

If you wish to offer services to the legal profession you can if you would like to the Legal Boookeeping paper however the Legal bookkeeping and Small business financial control are not obligitary.

I hope this helps
Stuart

Hello Theresa & Stuart,

Thank you both very much for you answers.

I know I need to complete level 1, but at least I now know I need to complete both level 2's & the first 2 of level 3, to get where I would like to.

thanks again

Hi Stuart,

I'm surprised that you've removed my previous reply as I was only replying to a thread that specifically related to a course package offered by us. Surely providing prosective ICB members with help and advice is helpful to all parties?

Brian

You may have a course package calloed ICB Career path however none of these posters mentioned Ideal Schools you choose to jump on and plug your course hence why I removed it for Adveretising violation.

Kind regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

Perhaps I misunderstood the nature of the thread but as the only college offering a course package by that name, I'm sure you can see why I got involved.

Anyway, my wrists are suitable slapped!!

Regards
