New business start up

My neighbour has asked me to do his books. he's just started a business and I'm in the middle of doing Level II. His business started 1st June 2011 but he didn't get a business account set up until the beginning of July. Therefore payments for the business were done by using his personal account. I am using Sage keep a record of his accounts.

Would I post these receipts as a debit the nominal code e.g carparking  and the VAT and credit the Loan nominal code to him?

Hope that makes sense?? Undecided

Did he receive any invoice for the payment that he made?

Hi James,

I'm looking at going self employed, you say you need a license..... would I be ok to be self employed if I sort MLR through HMRC and insurance myself?

Many thanks
Kirsty
