Self Assessment Exam - 100% pass mark

I logged on today and see that I've got a partial (96%) for the self assessment exam I submitted last week (speedy marking, I am impressed!). I'm pretty happy with this result, I had assumed that it is nearly impossible to get full marks and that it is designed this way to ensure you are truely competent.

So I'm wondering, have any of you achieved 100% first time??

Hi,

That is an impressive mark Jude, fingers crossed you'll get full marks when you re-submit it.  I logged in to this morning and found that I have failed... 84%, just one point away from being able to re-submit it... Never mind, there's always next time.

Does anyone know if we get comments on where we went wrong if you have failed the exam? I hope so, as how can we learn from our mistakes if we don't? I don't want to be making the same mistakes again.

I know we cannot discuss the questions, but trying to explain some terminology was impossible as there were some I have never come across before.

Hi Jude
Well done. I would say 96% is an indication that you have pretty much got it.

Hi Lisa
ICB will provide feedback on a paper but there is a charge for it. In general you will only be told where you lost the marks. What method of study did you use? There are workbook available from ICB which cover the terminology plus did you try Google? The HMRC web site has just about everything as long as you know where to look.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for your feedback, yes, I bought and read ICB's latest textbook 10/11, I Googled and referred to HMRC's website.  I am only guessing that the terminology section was were my marks let me down most, I wasn't expecting 100% on first attempt but I did think I would have at least 85% or more. I guess I'm going to have to study harder and to do more research to make sure that I fully understand how to deal with SA tax etc............

Kind regards,

Lisa

I'm relieved to see that my corrections to my 1st attempt at the Self Assessment (96%) were accepted and I have passed it. I was afraid they wouldn't be and I would have to start over, it would have been really disappointing after getting that close. You keep your original % mark when you pass, it's to make sure you understand your mistakes fully. Aiming to do the payroll diploma before Christmas....

I've just got mine back. 90%.  I'm a bit miffed as I lost marks on the section where you have to explain ...

~~ Post removed as contains actual questions ~~

... And I've apparently got it wrong?? I'm very confused now. Not sure how I'm gonna get past this.

Hi

I'm just waiting for my results for the SA exam. Trying to stop myself checking every half hour :(

How long did you all wait for your results? I know it says a month but I'm hoping it comes sooner

Thanks cerri
