Membership exemptions

Hi,
I am thinking of setting up as a self employed book keeper and would appreciate  any advice on membership qualification exemptions, and what level of membership I may obtain.
I would then look to take on further training but need advice on what level of course might be suitable.

I have run my own small business for 15 plus years (limited co, 4/5 employees shop and workshop £300-400k t/o) and have always managed the accounts (including:- VAT, Payroll / PAYE, Asset Reg, Management account etc.). I only use an accountant to produce the published year end accounts.

Business is declining and I am closing down.

I am very experienced in Sage line 50 MS office etc. but have no formal qualifications in accounts.

I know that my knowledge of self assessment is week as I have only done very little with it.

My accountant is willing to confirm my practical experience.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks
David

Hi David,

It would be best to call the ICB for advice but I believe you need confirmation from two accountants about your work for the expemptions.

Sorry I could not help further.

Thanks for your help so far.
My current business is not book keeping. I just do all the accounts for it.
I would definitely carry out further training, but am looking for feedback as to what level might be appropriate.
