Training provider

Hi there,

I've spent the last couple of weeks or so doing research into taking the Associate course, and had almost decided that Kaplan might be my most suitable choice of training provider.  However, I did have a couple of follow-up queries on browsing their website so thought I'd contact them.  I sent them an email yesterday - no response so far.  Tried to call them several times today - it took four attempts before I could even get through to them, as up until then I kept getting the busy signal.  Even when I did get through I went straight through to voicemail.  I left a message though.  Later this afternoon I tried to call them again, as nobody had got back to me, only to be put through to voicemail again.  I did leave another message, however, but still no response as yet.

What worries me about this is - if this is what it's lilke trying to get through to them now, what on earth would it be like once I register as a student and need some help with my studies?!  Is there anybody else on here who is doing the distance learning course with Kaplan who can advise me on this, please?  Are they usually that difficult to get hold of?  I've contacted Ideal Schools several times (my other main choice of possible training provider) but never had this problem.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I used Training Link and ALWAYS had a response to emails within hours even at weekends and late at night, their material is good too. I used one other training provider total waste of money no support and the training material was dreadful (still don't think it is easy to understand let alone without any experience).
I went with Training Link because there was no hard sell and they always answered the phone straight away. Never regretted using them.
Good luck.

I also use / used Training Link (did my level 1 last year, am planning on doing both level two at the end of this year with them too). They were all great - very quick to respond, very helpful, and all my assignments got marked in super-quick time. Very easy to deal with, easy notes to learn from. I'd definitely recommend them.

Sorry, no comment on Kaplan as, although I used them once (started AAT (and gave in)) I never had to contact them.

Hi Guestimate,

Welcome to the forum.

I was like you when looking into a training provider I had narrowed it down to Kaplan
and Ideal Schools - I finally made my decision and went with Ideal Schools because
while I was looking into it they were always happy to spend time on the phone with me
answering my endless questions and I never felt pressurised into making the decision to
go with them - and now that I have gone with Ideal Schools I am so glad because they
continue to give me the support and advice that they did before I had even registered
with them.

Hope this helps and Good luck with your studies whoever you choose

Hi everybody - thanks for your comments.  Actually, I managed to get through to them today and was advised that Monday is usually the busiest day, but other than that it's not the norm to have problems getting through.  Also the ACCA folk (I think it was them anyway) are currently awaiting exam results or something, which made it even busier.

Wellsy - that was exactly my experience with Ideal Schools too.  It makes a difference doesn't it. Well, a bit more weighing-up to do and then I'll make my decision.  Thanks again everyone.

(P.S.  MrsS - I hope the other training provider you mention, who you thought was a total waste of money, isn't one of those I'm thinking of studying with?!)
