Hi Armstrong

I am currently studying both manual and computerised level 3 and have found that fundementally there is no difference. There is just a lot more to do with the manual as in opening accounts to post entries to, drawing up the appropriation accounts, statements of affaird, extended trial balance, etc.

I personally would suggest you take a course with your preferred provider as you could miss vital information / calculations.

I have done it the other way around.  I have just sat and passed, the level III manual at the end of March.  The course was not as easy as I thought it would be.  Having used Sage for my bookkeeping business for many years, I found the level III course very different to using a computerised system.

I would strongly advise you to do the course.  I think the manual course takes you throught the nuts and bolts where as with a computerised system it does it all for you.  Having said that I am now contemplating wether or not to do a computerised lever III course or just try the exam.  I have been advised that I don't need to do the course because of the route I have taken ie doing the manual III first and of having many years of using Sage.

If you feel confident buy a mock and try it out then decide.
