Working for Limited Companies

Hello Fellow Members in Practice,

I have applied for my practice licence a few weeks ago and am up to Level 2. The licence starts from 01-April and I already had a couple of enquiries from potential clients.
However, I had to reject both of them because they were limited companies.
Now I am wondering what kind of work I am not allowed to do for ltd bearing in mind my Level 2 qualification ?
Surely, I can come into their office once a month and sort out the filing without the Level 3 qualification?

Any advice ?

Best Regards,

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

With a level 2 qualification you can take the Limited Companies books to trial balance. With the level 3 qualification you can do DRAFT final accounts including year end adjustments (prepayments/accruals/depreciation).

Some aspects of the bookkeeping for limited companies are a little different, so whenever you need help just post a query to technical queries or phone ICB and we'll all be glad to help!

Hi Andreas,

I am also new to this, got my first meeting today with first new client, arrggghhh!! Which is also a small ltd company so that's helped me a bit too.

I knew that I couldn't do year end for them, but apart from up to trial balance, what else can I do? VAT returns etc??
