capital allowance ?

I have a client who is a tree pluber in the CIS scheme.
He has got a tool costing around £3,000, so this is a capital item
How does he claim this now as capital allowances have changed recently?
Is it 25% off this year then the same until it is all claimed, or can he he claim more?

Assistance appreciated

Regards

I believe that the tool will qualify for plant and machinery capital allowances. From April 2012 the AIA limit has been reduced to £25,000 so provided your client has had no other capital expenditure, the full amount could be claimed as AIA.
