The membership application form for students asks for 2 references. I am my mums carer so have not had an official job. I'm studying aat level 2 at college and have done a few days work experience at accountants. Not sure who I can use for references? Can I put character references?

Thanks very much for any help.

You only need "References" if applying for exemptions. If you do not have the relevant experience or exams and intend to sit all of the exam's you do not need "References" as you will gain membership by exams.  Hope this helps.

Hi,

As an extra thought - I assume you need references because you are doing aat lv2 and want to apply for exemption - but the cost of exemption is not that different from the cost of the exams.

Lv 1 is taken from home, at your computer, lasts an hour or so and is - or should be - simple for someone doing aat lv2.

The exam cost £32 plus a tenner for the mock (I recommend it - really good practice and shows the exam format).

The lv2 exams are slightly more at £37 and £50 ish (can't remember) and only the computerised is home based - the manual you go to a centre for.

Best of luck with all the studying

I wasn't going to apply for exemptions, just sit the exams. Thanks for the replies, hopefully leaving it blank will be okay then.
