Can anyone help with advice on salary expectations as a bookkeeper? (I know its likely to vary across the country.) I have been with my current employer for 2 years without any increase, so I wish to make a convincing argument for modest increase if possible. Or should I just count my blessings and keep schtum?
I use Sage 50 and have a good understanding of the Report Writer too with experience of creating layouts and templates. The job entails inputting and processing of Sales (including Quotations & SOP) and Purchase invoices, including stock control and related. In addition, complete banking function for a number of accounts including credit cards and currency accounts with appropriate reconciliations almost daily, as well as processing all payments.
The company does have an accountant who pops in once a month to create management reports so I don't get involved with those.
But in addition to the Bookkeeping, I also process the Imports, and arrange despatch and documentation of the Exports, including Intrastats, and VAT returns. I love my job and like the variety, and the fact that I have responsibility for so much, but I feel that £21k p.a, may be on the low side. Any one have any views on this?
Thank you
