Hi All

Can someone tell me, do we need to pay full subscription every time we upgrade membership to next level ? for example if I upgrade to say AICB from student after 3 months, do I lose my 9 month fee or do I just pay the difference between the 2 Levels. Thanks.

Hi Bik

If you look on the main site page under membership on the left hand side and then fee structure this shows the two options of upgrading between levels.

Hi Bik

Your two options are:

1) Pay the difference in the levels and continue with the new level of membership until the date it is due to expire
2) Pay the full membership upgrade and add another year to your existing membership.

I chose option 2 everytime I passed exams and kept extending my membership.

Hope this helps.

Hi David

Your choice works out cheaper, but you are having to pay almost 3 year fee upfront.

Hi Bik

I weighed up the options and decided to do a full upgrade each time, this just meant that my renewal was pushed further and further.

In conclusion, I finished up to level 3 exams in 2012 and my subscriptions are not due now until 2014.

It was just a personal preference.

I agree with David.  When I Student to Associate I only paid the difference as I did it over the phone then found out I could do it by extending membership.  It meant though when I did my Payroll I added a year so there was not an additional charge then when I upgraded to Member I extended further.  I am now paid up till end of 2015.

Doing it this way I just need to show as prepayments in balance sheet.  Thankfully you have to be in the ICB for 5 years (if i've read it right) before you can qualify as Fellow so it will have levelled out before then. Smile

Little confused here Lizzie59, you said you added another year when you obtained your Payroll. Surely you would still be AICB ( or MICB ) and payroll would not change your grade or will it ? Can't see any prices for Payroll upgrade.

Thanks Lainy.

Ok, now i want to apply for PL, can some one suggest the best way to do this. I have looked at QDOS for PII ( insurance ), they claim starting from £45 per year ( 3 months free trial ) but when i click on their quote it comes out at £115. Is it best to get the PII first before applying for PL?  At what stage do i need public liability insurance ?

Also can anyone suggest a good website designer ( i have already registered a company and acqiured the the domain name ). How do i go about using the ICB crest on my stationery ? Thanks in advance.

Hi Bik

very well done.

Ring Qdos direct if you are interested, its cheaper, also contact ICB as regards crest etc, it all comes when you have applied for your practice licence pack. You cant use the crest till you have the licence.

Very best wishes and well done

If you change the turnover figure on the quote to £0-£5000 the quote will become £45 per year.
The default figure of £115 for PII is for a turnover of £50000+
