Changing year end in Sage Instant Accounts

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to accounting/bookkeeping so could do with a bit of advice about changing the year end in my accounts package. After speaking to Sage, I don't think there's a way to do it through Sage Instant, but would prefer to avoid paying them ridiculous amounts of money to change it for me.

Does anyone know of anyone offering this service at a lower cost than Sage? Or any way of doing it myself without buying Sage 50?

Thank you for any advice you can give!

Hi Nicola,

I have done this many years ago and it does take a few hours to do it.
A lot will depend on how many years information you have on the system - when I did it the company was just in their first year so was easier.

First of all take 2 backups including backup of any templates you have setup other than using the sage ones (for sales invoicing etc).

What I did was print off the whole nominal ledger, customers & suppliers information, P&L and Balance Sheet.

Then go to 'rebuild data' - this wipes your program clear of any information hence the reason for taking backups prior to doing this.

You can then setup the company details with the new financial year then you have to input alll the data. When this is done print it all off the reports again and check that the information agrees with the origianl reports printed.

Other than this then Sage are the only people to do it for you that I know of.

This looked feasible but I can not advise about licence issues if any. Best ask and/or check first.

Using a Bureau licenced version of Line 50 restore the data, change the date and then backup/restore to Instant.

Go to leyburnsolutions.com  I`ve used them and I think it was £80, definitely cheaper than Sage.
