Hello

I am doing the Accounting degree at the University of the West of Scotland.  I am in year 2 i was wondering if this qualification would allow me to joi the Associaiton of Bookkeepers.  I work for a charity and they were looking for someone with the membership i told them i would look into it.

If i need another qualifiacation can you tell me please which one i would be bettter going for.

Thanks

Hi Mandy,

Good luck with your degree.

The Association of Bookkeepers is I think the IAB?  We are the ICB so I can't answer the question as asked - however for the ICB if you ring or email they will be able to tell you if you get any exemptions from our exams and what those exemptions might be.

You might also want to consider student membership while you are studying - you could go to local branch meetings and get to meet bookkeepers and accountants who practice in your area, a useful resource if you get stuck on an assignment! As a student all your work for the charity would need to be overseen by a fully qualified bookkeeper or accountant.

The email address you need is info@bookkeepers.org.uk and the phone number is 0845 060 2345
