Hi

I was wondering what the difference is in the old and current syllabus. Do they both lead you in the same direction for the qualification or can you switch

Good Evening

I am not a training provider but you can swop from the old syllabus to the new.

Training Link (who I am training with) have a good description of the new.

My understanding is (and I could be wrong) that if you are a current studier, you have a choice to complete your exams under the old syllabus or swap to the new.

However if you are a new student, you will automatically start on the new syllabus.

I beleive that anyone currently studying the old syllabus will need to compelete their exams by next April (or thereabouts) when the new Syllabus becomes compulsory.

Hope this helps,

Hi Lesley Anne,

In addition to the answers from Trevor and Gill, which were excellent, can I just add the following.

If you are studying to Full membership, there is no distiction between the two qualifications in terms of who you offer your bookkeeping services to, for completion. However, with 'old' AICB you can complete accounts for sole traders. Under the new syllabus, AICB allows you to also complete accounts for partnerships and not for profit organisations.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Kind regards
