I recently did mine using kaplan, which is based on Sage instant accounts.
it goes through how to set sage up and then
setting up supplier and customer details
setting up product lines
nominal ledger
entering transactions
journals and bad debts
amending co details and managing data
bank reconciliation
health and safety
trail balances
reports
final accounts of sole trader.
are you thinking of taking a course or self study? the kaplan book is good but only if you are learning on sage. have you used any computerised accounts system yet?
