Can you get part exemptions for membership of ICB?

I know it is possible to get membership by excemption if you are a qualified bookkeeper elsewahere but is it possible to get part exemptions on modules?

I ask this because I had an interesting conversation with my job centre advisor today about how I am working towards my membership and what sort of help I could get with costs.

Had a bit of a result as the job centre has said they will pay my £75 student membership fee and the £25.00 I've spent so far on level 1 books so that was a win. Laughing

But she also said that they probably could not help with all the exams and coursework but she has asked me to contact the local collage who runs City and Guilds level 1 and 2 courses on Sage. Depending on the price the job centre said they will probably cover the cost.

If I do the city and guilds 1 and 2 in Sage could I use that and be eempted from the ICB computerised accounts? It is not easy getting help with funding for ICB vcourse because none of the training course are registered with the Carreer Development Loan Company and that impacts what the job centre can pay for because they need the training provider to be registered as an approved trainer.

Be perfect if I could use the city and guilds for the computerised bookkeeping requirements.

thanks

Good Afternoon Kevin

Have a look at this :-

http://www.bookkeepers.org.uk/Membership/PQ/Exemptions

and always worth giving the ICB a ring or email.

Hi Trevor

I did look at that but that seems to be for the entire coursse rather than on a module by module basis.

I suppose I could look at doin all the accounting course in City and Guilds instead of ICB and then applying for membership on an excemption basis.

But as I've joined as a student and started level 1 study I was hop;ing to be able to get exemption on a module by modules baiss - or more specifically the computerised accounts modules.

I'll send an email to the ICB when its closer to the time to see whats possible.

thanks

Kevin
