hello

I am considering starting my own practice... i am about to upgrade my membership to associate level .but i have a possible client who is a ltd co.  the work for them would be raising sale/purchase invoices and data entry of invoices and expenses.

it would not be final accounts or vat returns......can i offer this?

sorry its prob a really stupid question but i dont want to lose my practice licence before i get it!!

thanks

You can do the VAT returns - but not the final accounts.

Thats a really useful tool, however is it out of date?

just that I thought at AICB level you can do final accounts for Sole traders, but according to this you have to be MICB?

I don't know if it's out of date. If it is then none of the ICB website can be relied upon.

Look at the AICB column again - it clearly states "Final Accounts for Sole Traders" - although this is repeated in the MICB column. There are a few things that are repeated.

You may have noticed this by now anyway.

thanks for your replies.

i have seen that chart before but i was still unsure whether or not as an associate that i would be able to undertake general bookkeeping work for a ltd company.

i figure that they are pretty much the same for s/t's and ltd companies just the capital structure is different...

An Associate member - AICB - can do bookkeeping to trial balance for any business. This can be manual or computerised.

The limitations on an AICB with NO further exams are.

No Payroll

No Self Assessment Tax

No Final Accounts for Companies.

If you are studying the old sylibus then AICB's may not do partnership returns.

Does that help?
