How much of a step up is level 3

I have been reading random posts to try to work out how much of a step up level 3 is from level 2 is it like GCSE to A Level or more A/S to A level ?. Have just submitted B3 which I found much more of a challenge than B1 or B2 Sage is definately not easy to master much prefer spreadsheets, but fingers crossed we shall see. Now considering level 3. Did level 2 with distance learning but the fees for level 3 are really high and not sure finances will stretch so wondering if self study is a good idea. Interested to know what others think is tutor support valuable at this level what is the manual / sage split roughly and approx how much study time is needed for each module

Thanks Smile

Hi

I felt it was quite a big step up, however I was pleased I did it as it plugged a lot of gaps in my knowledge. The computerised part wasn't too bad, but there are a lot of details that need to be remembered in the manual side of things and I found this more complicated. However, in my case, there was an 18month gap since doing level 2 and level 3, so I needed to revise/recap on a lot. I don't think I could have done it alone - my tutor was invaluable.

I'd say, give it a go. You'll be pleased when you've achieved it. Maybe it will be more manageable on the new syllabus, with the subject being assessed in smaller chunks.

Good luck.

Hi Mandy,

As Wells said it is a big step up from level 2, but as the new syllabus is in place I'd say give it a go on your own, what have you got to loose? If you find you need help after a while then consider using a training provider. I think it'll be much more manageable with the way the modules work now, there wont be as much to remember all at once.

I did use a training provider , but I was working on the old syllabus and had a deadline of March, so don't think I could have done it in time without that help. I finished level 3 in about 6 months, working part time and studying part time. The split on time for me personally on the old syllabus was approx 70% manual and 30% computerised.

Good luck

Janette

Thank you both for your comments its always better to hear first hand from someone who has actually done the course even though it is a new syllabus I am sure the basics must be very similar and hopefully as you say a bit more manageable with the new structure.

I have just got my B3 result which I passed with 99% I am really pleased Smile and amazed ! (wish I had done that well at school! ) so I think that I will take your advice and have ordered the self study kaplan to see how it goes at least that way I will be learning while I am saving for the fees. I do agree that I dont really want to have a break, I had a long break at xmas and found it really hard to get motivated again and did have to do a lot of revision  Its very positive to hear that you did level 3 in 6 months Janette and also that there is possibly more manual than computerised which I prefer. Onward and upward

Thanks again

Mandy
