Does anybody else get invoiced for their (FREE) sage every year ?

Hi Chris,

Don't even ask about this!

I was so annoyed about this so called 'free' Sage when they advised me I would have to start paying a monthly fee that I contacted Trading Standards. They advised to check the Terms & Conditions.

I eventually found the T&C's on ICB website and lo and behold in very small print there is a clause stating they can charge.

How come? I still have the email telling me that I would have 'free' Sage One as long as I was a member of ICB and there is nothing in that email advising they would later be charging for it. Luckily I hadn't used it so it didn't bother me when I could no longer get access.

This is typical of Sage as far as I am concerned.

I cant find any information from ICB about this change and they havent replied to my e mail. I have tried to cancel sage as I havent even used it but they say I may still be invoiced . Nightmare

Hi Chris,

I can't find it anymore so it must have been removed.

I discussed this 'free' Sage One with ICB and Sage and quite frankly got nowhere.

Needless to say I do not recommend Sage to any of my clients!

I had same problem as everyone else Sage said that every year i needed to get a code from ICB and then ring sage and they would activate the free software for another year.  but unfortunatley ICB dont know nothing about code and sage couldnt help either and i was charged £30 for software i dont use.  I cancelled with Sage and then went in and changed my bank details.  This was a good move as for the next 3 months they were still trying to charge me and complaining that my bank details were incorrect so they couldnt take payment.  Cost me a lot of time and aggravation to get them to stop contacting me. I have been dealing with Sage customer services for approx 15 years now and customer service is still the same.  No one wants to help and whatever you need you have to pay for, sometimes twice and when they sort it you cant get a refund because it is always our fault never theirs.  I dont recommend Sage to clients and havent done so for the last 12years.

Ah so I am not alone - just gone through this ridiculous process again this year except this time I can't pay the subscription even though I have been cornered into doing so - the 99p plus vat one. Sage are adamant that ICB needed to have given us the details earlier this year and ICB are ignoring my emails. I was told however by Sage that they havent started charging for Sage One Accounts what they have done is introduced a new product called Sage One Accounting and are retiring Sage One Accounts and that is why there is a charge it is for a new product. I wonder what would happen if I rang Sage again and said I was a member of ICB - maybe this is the way to do it (at this stage so I can at least access my account again) I am wondering if ICB is still actively promoting this deal because there is no sign of it on ICBs website and they are being awfully quiet!!

Typical! I rest my case!

I have a client who stupidly signed up for Sage One without telling me or asking me if I knew what it was like.

He is paying something like £12 per month!

He has tried to contact Sage to allow me access to his account and they keep telling him they have sent me the email with the code!

3 times he has phoned so far and still nothing!

Fortunately he only uses it for raising sales invoices so I will have to get him to print off a report of all his sales for the year so I can put them on my system.

As for ICB being of any help - doh!
