I don't have any accounts software so need to get some for the exam.  I know that ICB say that the trial version of Sage is not suitable for exams, are there any other free trials that will have enough functionality for the exam?

 Hi Jen

Are ICB not able to give you some help on which trial versions would be suitable?  Unfortunately, a lot of the trial versions do not give full functionality for obtaining reports etc - which you need to be able to do for the exams.

I used Sage as I got it through my training provider.

Like you I did not want to spend lots on an accounting package for B3.  In the end I used Solar Accounts trial, was not initially that keen as used to using Sage and Quickbooks.

But after lots of trial and error, adjusting reports etc, I really enjoyed the challange.  I pressed the submit button, wondering if the work would be acceptable, and if I would need to resit the exam, but I was able to secure a 100% distinction.

So it can be done!

Hi Jen

How long are you actually given to do B3?  I have 2 jobs and 2 kids and am running out of time to sit the exam before my Sage trial runs out!

I had the same problem as you a few weeks ago - level 2 computerised exam due but no software. I bought from eBay for £59 a NEW boxed self study course for Bookkeeping Level 3 just for the Sage 50 disc so I could take my BA3 paper for level 2 computerised exam and pleased to say the sage disc worked perfectly, it made no difference that the self study books was for level 3 the actual disc was Sage 50 to be installed and used for any level  - give it a try!
