Hi - am starting a new thread here as requests to obtain copies of ICB mock papers crops up several times a week. ICB offers online mock papers for all of its assessment papers. These are mean to closely resemble the format of the live papers and give practice in dealing with the topic coverage under a realistic time frame. Each paper is copywrited by ICB and every introduction page contains a note:

WARNING

TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS OR SCREEN SHOTS OF ANY ICB PAPER IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN EXCEPT FOR THE PURPOSES OF YOUR OWN CALCULATIONS WHILST COMPLETING THIS PAPER. SUCH SCREEN SHOTS MUST IN NO WAY BE CIRCULATED TO ANY OTHER PERSON.

So please note that no mock papers should be circulated. Obtaining online papers from someone else will not allow you to see the built in feedback reports for each question (see below). With the exception of paper B3 which is soley a computerised paper, every other paper is either completely online or a mixture of online and computerised questions (which then also contain full downloadable model answers).

Mock papers may be purchased from the ICB shop. or by ringing us or via your training provider where a discount is offered if they book this for you as part of your course with them.

Once you have completed each mock paper you can work  back through it and see the following:

Each question with the various answer options (if this was a multi-choice question), the answer that you gave and a colour code to tell you if it was correct, partly correct or wrong.

If the answer is coloured green then it was completely correct and no further information is given to you.

If your answer is coloured yellow then it was partially right - this normally happens in later papers (from BA4 onwards) where you are asked to work out calculations throughout and may need to enter a total based on your previous answers. Even if some of your earlier answers were wrong you may be given partial marks for bringing these figures forwards.

If your answer is coloured red then you made an error and gained no marks.

In the case of both yellow and red, you can click on the answer box to see both the correct answer that you should have given and also a feedback comment which will tell you how you should have worked this out and sometimes a list of the errors that occur most frequently.  Note - this feedback is general but  should enable you to correctly re-calculate your answer. You will not be able to update the paper however.

In the live papers the format of the feedback varies depending on the nature of the paper. You will obtain the feedback report for the online questions that you got partly wrong or wrong listed at the end of the paper but you will not be able to see the questions or your answers. Where a paper contains a computerised element, feedback may be obtained but there is a fee for this as the marker has to write the report individually for each request.

I hope that this clarifies the reasons for not allowing our mock papers to be circulated. I am aware that certain other bodies do release past papers for no fee but these are papers that are no longer in active use.

Jacquie, one thing I have noticed is that when I buy a third mock, it is the same as the first. This has happened twice - for BA5 and BA6. Are there only two unique mocks available for each paper?
