New and Overwhelmed!

Hi everyone...

I've just arrived here today and I am just about to enroll on my ICB Bookkeeping Complete (L2/L3/L4) course with Open Study College. Just waiting for the master of the house to return from work with his credit card! *grin*

My question is, was anyone else just completely overwhelmed when they first started and panicked that they wouldn't understand everything?

I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing about studying bookkeeping for a number of years, but I wasn't done having babies - we've now stopped at six. DH is being made redundant in December after 17 yrs in a really well paid job, and we know that he is drastically overpaid in his field. We know his next job (when one comes up) won't be as well paid and our mortgage is not shrinking fast enough! Therefore, the time for me to take this course and build a career is now.

The trouble is, I've spent so long raising children that I am worried my brain has turned to mush and I'm just not going to pick up any of this. I have a basic sense of numbers, I've been doing the books for my very small business and for the local toddler group.

Was anyone else here this anxious when they started or were you confident that you would fly through the course? Does anyone have any advice they can offer me?

Many thanks in advance for your advice and I am sorry about the ramble. I needed to get it off my chest, but my preemie was more interested in sleeping than listening!

I enrolled with the Open Study College in May and I was nervous before I started but I have worked through the level 2 manual and passed my level 2 exams. I think just take your time and study at your own pace. You can always use the forum here to either ask questions or look at previous topics.

Good Luck!
