Hi, I have a new client who has used Sage 50 for a few years (Ltd CO t/o £400K) but his accounts are a mess and need completely starting again for this FY on Sage.

However, he is 10 months into his FY and obviously uses some of the information on the system already.

Presumably he will need to buy new software if he we are running to use 2 sets of data at same time until I have caught up?  Or will Sage allow me to download the software again?

Any thoughts - got to stick to Sage as that is what his Accountant wants.

Hi,

Sometimes, it is easier to use the same company file but clean it up. I've recently helped a client with similar problem but said lets get the accounts as clean as possible for the year end and then concentrate on getting the following year completely clean.

Sage does not seem to like to instances on the same computer - so you may need to just upgrade it to allow more than one company if you go down the second company route.

I like the comment about the accountant. Accountants do like Sage. When I talk to customers, I tend to steer them in the direction of the package that is best suited for them, and that is rarely Sage. It is generally the customer that has to use the software day to day afterall. Most of the accountants I deal with accept this.

Hope this helps

Dave
