Has anyone come across the 14,500 limit in QB Premier?

If so, how did you go about resolving it?

I find it bizarre that software has this built-in limitation in it and to make matters even worse, doesn't give you any warning messages that you are approaching this limit.  Neither was it stated anywhere when the client purchased the software.

Hi Jane

I am no quickbook expert, however, You can run the condense data utility to remove unused items and lists. But since the process is pretty much automated I suggest you create a back up before doing so to ensure that if balances are affected by the process you can go back and restore a good file. The process may take a while as well.

To run condense data utility to remove unwanted lists: Go to File > Utilities > Condense Data > set preferred date > select 'Keep inventory transaction details' > click 'Select None' on transactions to remove > click Next > select all on Unused List Entries > click Next > Begin Condense

Here's a useful link for condense data utility: http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/HOW12161

Thanks for your thoughts Vip - much appreciated Smile

Does anyone know if you can still access the individual invoices as the client in question has a 40yr guarantee on their products so being able to retrieve this is quite important - I see from the link that 'condense data' will leave anything that isn't propoerly linked.

We tried creating a new company file but we couldn't.

 Hi Jane,

I'd be interested to hear if you were able to Condense data because I thought that was a feature that QB dropped a few versions back.

I had a client that reached limit on inventory items. Only option was to delete items to make room for new or upgrade to Quickbooks Enterprise. They did the latter, and they are still very happy with it, but I believe QB have dropped this version now. QB seem to be wanting everyone to switch to online version (which Intuit told me at the time, has no list limts).

Would Online QB not suit your client?

Dave
