Showing VAT number on websites?!

Hello,

I currently do some admin and a small amount of bookkeeping for a web development company. The company recently registered for VAT.

I've been getting in touch with their clients to get some updated information together and some of them are also showing as VAT regsitered.

However, their websites are not showing their VAT number. What is the legalities of this? I read somewhere that you need to display your VAT number if you advertise or sell goods online.

The clients (and the web developers) tend to be personal trainers and on alot of the websites you can sign up for a membership for a fee to access workouts, forums ect.

So, should they be displaying their VAT number on their website?

The information online seems a bit all over the place and before I stick my nose in, I just want to check that my theory is correct in that if they are offering subscriptions for fees, then they need to display their VAT number clearly on their website?

Many thanks for any responses.

Hi Kara

I've not had any experience of this, however, having done a search on the internet, I've come up with this which may help.....

This appears to back up what you say - that the VAT number should be stated on a website when a business is registered.
