Hi,

I've worked my way through Units 1-10 doing reasonably ok with the assignemnts but now I'm supposidly ready to take the B4 mock - I don't seem to have a clue about any of it :-( I'm working through the revsion pack getting most of it wrong first time around and have one pratice B4 paper that I didn't do to well on either.

Is anyone else struggling with B4 -any tips on helping in sink in??  It all makes sense when I read trhough it but when I try and put it into practice it seems to have not sunk in!  I guess i just need to keep reading, reading and reading!

Sorry no advice - I'm just not getting motivated with Level 3 at all.  I think it's just practice, practice and more practice and eventually it all sticks (or at least I hope).  I've given up till after the holidays and will start afresh again, Good Luck Smile

Oh dear thought it was just me, but clearly I am not alone in my struggle with motivation for level 3 as it seems to be such a jusmp from level 2.  I definately think you need some previous knowledge of small business to grasp a lot of the concepts. I work for a small business doing books and admin so I have been lucky enough to gain some insight into what the accountant uses to prodcue final accounts as you say it all makes sense when you read it through but when you come to do it from scratch it is a challenge. I think it takes a lot of practice and experience.  I actually gave up for a while and did the payroll course instead which I have found to be a good course and very useful too. Reckon a break for the hol then a new start in the new year Good Luck Smile fingers crossed we will all get there in the end

I have just passed after failing first time round.

I found the ICB mocks good practice. I also bought a Kaplan level 3 revision kit before sitting it again. By the time i had made my way through that, i felt much more confident. It was a good edition to my course books.

My advice is to order that ready for the New Year. Enjoy Xmas then get the revision under way. I'm sure you will smash it.

Good luck :)

It's good to know it's not just me then!  I think I've been trying to rush through it to much as I'm so keen to get it finished so I can get to where I want to be.  I need to take a step back and breath every now and then haha :-)

Well done MrsH for passing, you must be so pleased.  It sounds like a good plan to have a break over Xmas and I have also ordered the revision kit so I'm glad I did that.  I have one mock from my tutor and I see you can do the online mock - any suggestions where I can get more mocks from?

Thanks to you all for your comments, it's reassuring to know others are in the same boat.  I hope you all have a great Xmas and New Year and I'm sure we will all come back refreshed and motivated in the New Year ;-)

I did the same. Flew through level 2 and thought level 3 would be a breeze. Alot more to think about and take in. A step back occasionally works wonders lol. You can get 2 mocks from the ICB shop.

Have a relaxed xmas and good luck for the new year :)

I was successful on this exam this week but fully understand your comments.

There is definitely a big jump from level II.

I would say be very careful with calculations on computer section. For example if you miscalculate depreciation they will mark you down in several areas due to the knock on impact

Good luck in new year

Hi all

What is this Kaplan Revision kit you are talking about and where could I get one from.  I am on my mocks for B4 and need to be more prepared as well

Hi Sue,

It's a book you can order from the icb online shop. Have you attempted the online mock yet? I've had a couple of days rest going to start revising again tomorrow!

Good luck,

Hi

Ah found them now thanks.  I have not taken my computerised bit yet.  I am still awiating the results of my manual bit but I submitted it just before Xmas so have to wait for those results first.

I understand the computerised bit is hard!  Gulp!

Hi Sue,

Happy New Year!

Fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long for your results!!  I didn't realise it was in two sections.  I am going to spend this next weel revising and then possibly attempt the mock next weekend.  Did you do the B4 mock beofre the proper exam?

Once you finish the manual part of BA4 you complete the computerised part. Download the sheets on screen at the end of the exam and follow the instructions. The paper won't be marked until both parts are submitted.

Hi ya

Sorry I think I have confused you.  I am referring to the Mocks.  I have taken the manual bit but not the computerised bit yet.

Good luck to you also.

Hi

Thanks for your concern.  I must admit I did have a slight panic and then realised what was what.

Kind Regards

Sue
