Hi All

Trying to study for B4 but finding it all confusing.

just wondering which accounting system others used and how long do you get to complete mock and exam.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

You get 24hrs to do both parts of exam. A manual part that takes similiar style to B1 B2 but harder - takes about 2 hrs I guess then a computer exercise. You save various reports and have to submit them as zip files. I used Sage software and had no issues.

Good Luck

I would suggest taking the mock as soon as you feel you can really.  I was panicing massively but once I did that it did really help calm me down before I took the main exam as I understood the format and timescales etc.

Although you get 24 hours to complete I did find on both occassions that I spent hours going over and over what I had done which to be honest I'm not too sure if that was good or not as I just ended up confussing myself!

I also use Sage and had no issues wiht that.

Best of luck Smile

I am currently setting up my business, and looking to use some free software to do my exams.

I subscribed to Sage; Quickbooks and Xero, but found that I had either set up wrong and had to pay subscription for the new 'test' entity or they were confusing me.

In the end I downloaded offline Solar - seems OK, but not sure I will get the reports I want.

Did the exam on Monday....took far too long and waiting for the fail score....need to do more revision!

It sounds like you are in the same situation as me. I am intending on setting up my own business and just trying to pass the exams at the moment.

In the last month i completed Level 2 and I used Quickbooks trial version for the reports for BA3. your best option is to do the mock exam and have a play around with the reports so that you can find a way of getting the ones you need. I found that the mock exam for BA3 was extremely similar to the actual exam so I was prepared.

Thanks KarlaB

I have been trying to go from my knowledge, but think I am going to have to pick some books up!

Where are you based?

Yeah I've gone from the manual text books. I have worked in accounts for 13 years so this is all very back to basics for me and from my experience each company does things differntly and alot of the time not how the books tell you to.

I'm based in North Wales, my email is karla-baxter@hotmail.com if you want to email. Be handy to have someone in the same kind of position to bounce off for advice.

Hi

The people that used sage - did you buy a copy or use the trial.

Is there any other software anyone has used?

Thanks

I am going to use quickbooks trial, it was sufficient for the BA3 exam and have looked at the mock and think it should be okay for the BA4 exam.
