Payroll Software

I've had lots of experience of payroll in the past, but now want to add it to my practice licence.  I've done the two mock papers available using Money soft but have come accross a few obstacles.  Any ideas....

  1. It will not let you advance holiday pay, so you have to manually adjust the tax and NI.
  2. It does not refund tax if a week has zero pay.  It waits until pay is due.
  3. I am getting small errors on EE NIC.  I've checked the calculation manually and it would appear error is on answer paper.  Anyone else had this, or have I missed something somewhere?
  4. You can't seem to adjust pension payments so that SSP and SMP are not pensionable.
If anyone knows the answer to these, or can suggest an alternative software to use, I'd be really grateful.  I have 2 clients lined up just waiting for me to do payroll, so really need to get this exam out of the way ASAP.

Thanks

Done a few mocks and the exam using moneysoft without any problems. Just put a note about the holiday pay, ICB are aware of this. Found it dead easy to use.

Hi Penny

if your using moneysoft and want ot advance the holiday pay - you click on the little yellow bucket and spade when your on the 'pay details' screen. it is difficult to see but it does allow you to advance the holiday pay.

The N.I issue - I have had this, it is due to moneysoft using the 'exact method' and others using 'rounding' but the ICB are aware of this and allow for it so don't worry about it.

SSP and SMP as I understand it is treated as pensionable salary and therefore subject to pension contributions.

the tax refund - I'm sorry, I don't know about that one but I'm sure someone else on here will advise you.

I used Moneysoft for my exam and passed so good luck with yours.
