Hello Everyone!

Hi I've just registered and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Jen and I did an accountancy degree and the CIMA certificate 10 years ago. I then changed career for a while (I was a photographer and then a teacher) and am now starting out again at level 2 with the intention of setting up my own practice when I have completed all the levels.

I was invited to join the IAB at member level on my quals when I emailed them but the ICB seemed to offer more to its members and a more rigorous set of qualifications. I think refreshing my skills is essential after so long and hope I have made the best decision for me in the long run.

I am studying on my own at home and hope I can pull it off. It would be nice to share my experiences on here and also meet up with other bookkeepers in Halifax and the surrounding areas.

Hi Jen

I am starting my exams as well.  I have been in banking for 26 years and looking to move into Bookkeeping and Consultancy.  Are you doing the exams under your own steam?

Hi Rich

Good to hear fromyou. Yes I am studying by myself with the books from the ICB shop and Frank Woods book. I feel like I wouldn't benefit from a course as it's mainly refreshing stuff I did years ago. How are you approaching the studying?

Yes, me too.

I did some exams a few years ago, and with my banking background I have a fairly good knowledge of the theoretical elements of it.  Going to throw myself into a couple of exams.  The intention is to try and get Level II and III done before the end of May....I may be being a bit optimistic but we will see.

Good luck with yours

Good luck with the exams I'm sure you will be fine. I think I should complete levels 2 and 3 easily and quickly but we'll see. Let me know how you find the exams.

Hi Jen

How are you doing.

I have had a busy week, been off work but busy networking and re-connecting with old contacts.  I think I have a couple of clients lined up ready for when I leave the bank in the next 6 weeks or so.

I did my first exam today, decide to throw myself in.

I was surprised that I used the whole time up (well almost, 1hr 54m), by the end of the exam I felt I was getting back into it.

I got a respectable 92%.  It will probably be next weekend before I get a chance to do the next one, as I have a busy week in work this week.

Hope you are doing ok!

 Hi Jen

I am in your area hello!!  Good God though, Frank Woods??  I have a copy of one of his books that I did my BTEC with back in 1992 lol...takes me back.

Good old Frank, wonder if his works have changed much over the years Laughing

Good luck with your study anyway!

Hi Mel

Lovely to hear from you! Where abouts are you? I am in Halifax. I am hoping to complete level 2 in the next 8 weeks before moving on to level 3 but its a long time since I studied so I hope it comes back to me easy enough. Where abouts are you in your studies?

Jen
