Re-sitting an exam before results are in

I recently did my BA04 exam but got distracted by other things before I had time to upload the second part, resulting in being out of time. So I know I am going to fail. However the "marking date" generated shows that I can't get a result until June 5th (two months away) even though it's a blank return.

Anyway, I'm not so much bothered about that - I went in to do the exam again and found that the link was no longer available to me. This is the first time I have sat for this exam.

Does anybody know the reason for this? am I locked out for two months until I get the result? If this is how the exams are managed it could take a long time to get to the end of the process, which is incongruent with the promise that you can resit after 24 hours.

I have sent in an email to ICB asking them for a pointer but haven't had a response yet. I thought it would be useful to share this experience to see if any one is in the same boat / or if any one knows why... Cry

Hello,

I might have misunderstood your post but I understood it as you are going into the same exam link again?  if this is the case I think you need to go through the booking and paying process again, buy a new exam and do that one.

It will have a new link that should work.

Thanks

Jules

Thanks for your reply Julia. I actually meant that I could not book a new exam as the link under 'book an exam' for BA04 had gone - I can now only see B1 to B3 again.

I am concerned that I am being made to wait for two months until my promised result date. This would make getting to BA07 very slow going and I didn't think this was ICB's intention. I'm hoping its a glitch.

I see, I had Misunderstood then.

I am on my b06 (finding that a tough one!!) and can confirm that the b05 and b06 are instant results like the earlier exams.  So once you are through this one there won't be the long waits for results.

I hope that puts your mind at rest a bit.

Thanks Julia, that is good to know.

If I get any update from ICB I'll post it here.

Hi,

lf it makes you feel any better, I got my BA4 results today after 2 weeks despite the expected result being 4 weeks from when I did the exam.

Good to know 5 and 6 are instant. I'm trying to whizz through quickly and didn't relish waiting this long between each paper. I should be used to it though, when I did my CIMA qualification I had to wait months each sitting to get results.

All the best,

Kate

Hi - in reply to the question of the time taken for results of a paper (BA4) to be issued these are issued within 28 days of submitting the reports - we do try to turn the marking round within 7 days but occasionally it will take longer.

We have noticed that if a candidate's computer is set to American date style it can give a false result on your MyICB. For example, if your system is showing the results are due by 5 June this could very well mean 6 May. I would suggest changing the format of the date on your computer and it should change the date displayed for results being issued.

Hope this helps

Thanks Jacquie, I appreciate the clarification.

Just to update. ICB were very helpful and the matter was sorted. BA5 and BA6 were not a problem in this regard because there is no upload component. Now waiting for my BA7. Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond.
