I am looking to sit the Self Assessment Paper as soon as possible but the manual is not currently avaliable on the wesbsite to purchase at the moment.

I have contacted ICB to ask why and when it will be avaliable but not yet had a response.

Does anyone have a second hand one for sale?

Hi

why not take a look on the web for 2 books called Personal Tax by Osborne Books, one is a tutorial and the other is a work book for you to test yourself with. I used these when I took the SA exam and found them very good. they work out a lot cheaper too.

Hi

I studied with Ideal Schools for Self assesment, their coursework is great, explains it in a way you can understand, the support is brilliant always someone to answer your questions via telephone, email, or online chat (even at half 11 at night,) there is also a facebook group which is great for support and information.

This is the reason i passed the course with a mark of 100% !!!

Could not reccomend them enough :)

I also studied with Ideal Schools and their course Material was excellent and is continuosly added to by the main tutor on this subject Eszter. Her knowledge is second to none. I have recently been awarded from Ideal Schools - the ICB Student of Year award for 2016. This was only possible because of quality materials and support

 Hello CAP

Thanks for the tip in tension to the books. Did you find these to be enough or is there any other texts you used? Did you purchase the Business Tax by Osborne Books?

Hi Dean

yes I did buy the Business tax book as well (well they were cheap enough compared to the price of a course I think for all the books it only cost around £30.00 ) but to be honest you only really need the Personal Tax books for the exam. because it only covers 'self assessment' not business tax.  I found they were realy good but I also downloaded as much from HMRC's website as I could find.

I didn't fork out for a course and I passed with 97% so it shows you can do it without spending an arm and a leg.

good luck and please post on here WHEN you've passed your exam

Hello CAP

Based on your recommendation below and another post on an older thread, I've purchased the Osbourne books (Both business and personal tax, with free online versions) for less than £50. The books haven't arrived yet but I've been reading the online version and so far so good. Thank you so much to members who share information and their experiences - they are so invaluable.

I'm still on the look out for course materials for the payroll management exam so will appreciate anyone with info on where to look.

Davidst

A free ebook is included when you purchase the personal tax books from http://www.osbornebooksshop.co.uk. The ebooks can be accessed via an account they provide with the sale confirmation email.
