Auto Enrolment

I have a client who's payroll is always paid on 5th.  Their staging date was 1/11.  I have recently taken over from previous bookkeeper who had set up everything for auto enrolment already.  They are using Moneysoft, and when I ran the payroll for payment on 5/11, the software automatically deducted pension contributions, even though employees had not been notified or enrolled.  NEST are not expecting contributions until the next pay run.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Should I just adjust moneysoft and refund these deductions back to staff?

Thanks

Hi Penny

You say pay date is the 5th is that for the pay period up to the end of October? If staging date was 1st November then they shouldnt have been enrolled into Nest until after 1st November, unless the staff agreed beforehand. when once enrolled Nest sends out the packs. I presune all the letters have been done, as Nest cant be set up until the employees have received those. If the pay day does include payments to the 5th, then yes it would be withing this payrun, but only for those 4 days, but I suspect that the pay is actually to 31st October. I don't use moneysoft but i'd ring them and see what they suggest, as if you wait till the 5th of next month it may be a bit late. whatever you do Nest and your payroll have to match.

Hope that helps a bit.

very best wishes

Elaine
