Dog Minding Business

I have a new client who minds dogs from home. Although the owners supply their dogs food, the minder does supply treats ie dog chews and buttons. This isnt a great expense but should I make a claim for it on her tax return? She has supplied the reciepts. I didnt think food was classed as an expense but it is slightly different.

Cheers

Hi Gazza

Yes, claim it. To my mind, the expense satifies the wholly and exclusively test. She wouldn't be incurring the expense unless she was carrying on the business.

You are right that this is different - this is an expense for food for dogs that she is being paid to look after, rather than entertainment of subsistence even.

Great, thanks Phil.
