How tricky is BA7 ?

Hello

I just wondered if anyone was able to say how hard they found BA7 compared to BA4,5 and 6?

I passed 4,5 and 6 with distinctions in less than 6 weeks total ... but of course these are taken at home with all your notes to hand!!  I am petrified of sitting the BA7 !

I talk a lot out loud to myself when I'm reading the questions, so I will have to learn to be quiet Laughing.  And I've been reading horror stories about there only being a tiny white board for you to do your workings on.... do they give you more ? As I don't want to be rubbing out workings that I might want to be checking at the end?

I have just done one mock and have bought 2 more from the ICB so it will hopefully give me an idea of whats in it!

Any tips greatly appreciated !

Thanks

Hi Laura

I was also petrified of taking BA7 for the same reason (not having notes to hand) but it was ok.  Doing the ICB mock exams certainly prepared me.  One of my concerns was having to work from screen and not being able to print out so I sat the mocks in the exam situation.

I don't know whether the centres vary but I was given 8 or 10 white boards which were A4 size and was told I could ask for more but it was not necessary.  Also, I shouldn't worry too much about talking out loud as long as it is not too loud.  Everyone is provided with ear plugs which can be used and also headphones.  I didn't use them as I am used to the noise of an office environment.

Keep calm and good luck

Thanks Chris.

Would you say the ICB mocks are similar to the actual exam?  I have done one mock from Training Link which had a question bank ( basicially 22 random questions covering the three levels)  worth 39% which I found a bit daunting!  I would prefer to be given a set of accounts to do to be honest Undecided.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi Leisa

The ICB mocks are very similar to the actual exam and I have used them for all parts of the courses.  I have been and looked back on my results for BA7 which I took last August.  I didn't do too well on the Training Link Mock, I managed a partial pass .  I then had a gap with no studying because of holiday commitments and getting a date for the exam and ended up doing the first ICB mock two days before the actual exam and failed it.  This forced me to really focus and do a lot of concentrated swotting, especially in my areas of weakness highlighted by the mock exam results.  I took the next ICB mock the following day and got 91%.  I think that gave me the confidence for the actual exam and I got 89%.

The exam does have about 10 questions checking underpinning knowledge, I think it accounts for about 1/10th of the total marks.  The rest of the questions cover the main topics covered - VAT returns, control accounts etc - with a one question on a set of final accounts.
