Moving from Sage to Xero - advice gratefully received!

Hi all,

I currently use Sage Instant from an old disc a client bought years ago. The data is up to date to the end of the year and the accountant gave me the go-ahead to run the year end so I can continue with my data postings. The system crashes when running the year end so I cannot complete this. Myself and the client have decided this is the time to move to Xero.

It's taken a while to get information back from Xero, not having a telephone line for sales. The email I received doesn't help me choose the right package or give me enough info, particularly regarding costs. The contact who sent the email doesn't answer the phone. I'm desperate to get started as my work is piling up!

Does anyone have any gems of advice for me. Can I transfer data from the Sage back-up and run the year end in Xero? I also have another client's Sage back-up - can I do the same with this one too as he will possibly want to move to Xero too?

Much appreciation for any help or advice received!

HI VJ

Are the Sage accounts to TB level?

How many new SI's and PI's etc do you have in this year?

Does the client want to see the history on Xero or continue to use Sage for historical data?

I am a Xero certified advisor, perhaps a telecon would be advantageous.

Hi Neil,

Thanks so much for getting back to my post.

Yes, the Sage accounts are up to TB level to the year end March 18 but I haven't run the year end option. I haven't entered any data for the new year. I wanted to start this in a new accounts package.

I don't think the client would have a preference to viewing historical data - he'd tell me to go with what I think would be best. I could always re-load a back-up in Sage to look at historical data but I would be grateful if I could view outstanding debtor and creditor details on the new software.

A telecon would be very valuable at your convenience. Thanks. I am free tomorrow between 9.30 and 10.30 or after 2.30?  Are any of these times any good for you?

Best wishes,

Vanessa
