The hotly anticipated new centre-based examinations are now open for bookings, and hundreds of you have already taken advantage of our dedicated online bookings site and organised yourselves an examination.
The new system marks a significant improvement on standard examination procedure because it enables candidates to book an examination slot in any week of the year, and to choose their own centre from a global network of over 5,200 available venues.
Any cancellations or postponements can be made up to five working days before an examination to allow greater flexibility for busy students. The examinations are now delivered on computer, eliminating the need for candidates to write out scores of ledgers and 'T Accounts'. Whilst candidates will no longer suffer from writing fatigue under the time pressures, they may be less relieved to hear that the new papers are anything but 'dumbed down'.
ICB head of education, Philip Dunn, and director of operations, Patricia Marshall, headed up the indomitable team faced with the challenge of faithfully translating the existing format of the manual papers into an easy-to-use computer programme.
In the words of Jeff Grimston from one of our Accredited Training Providers, Premiere Training;
"Not for the first time you’re showing other bodies (who shall remain nameless) the way it should be done!!! Once again I’m genuinely very impressed how hard you work to do your best for your members."
Jeff Grimston, Premier Training
"This new examination format has improved what was already one of the most accessible and flexible exam structures available. Congratulations to all ICB staff on this development as your hard work over the past year has paid off."
Brian McVean, Ideal Schools
Any student or member who has passed the Level I Certificate in Basic Bookkeeping is eligible to complete one of the centre-based tests should they wish. All eligible individuals were emailed last week with details of how to book their examination, together with their unique username and password for using on the dedicated online bookings page.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the centre-based examinations, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Meanwhile please refer to the Centre Based Examinations page of the website for more details, examination rules and a test tutorial. There will be an online mock paper simulation available by the weekend.
For those of you who are lucky enough to have already secured an examination slot, please remember to bring your own calculator with you on the day!
