ICB member meets Prince Charles

We are ever so proud of Jane Griffiths AICB, and it seems her clients are too.  We all know how indespensible a good bookkeeper is, but Jane Griffiths does such a good job that her client told Prince Charles about it.

"HRH Prince Charles, accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall, officially opened the Jen Jones Welsh Quilt Centre in Lampeter which is run by my Monday client, Jen Jones. Jen's husband is my Friday client, Roger Clive-Powell R.I.B.A, who was the architect for the conversion of the old Lampeter Town Hall and his building team of local contractors did all the renovations.

"Roger is passionate about conservation and ecology, so when Jen and her two helpers were delivering and hanging some quilts to the Prince's Welsh home they got into conversation about the new centre and quilt museum, and how Roger was doing the restoration. The Prince said he would be delighted to help in any way, so Jen asked if he would officially open it!! The royal couple managed to fit the visit in amongst other duties on their week-long annual summer tour of Wales at the beginning of July.

"I was there at the royal opening as their long standing bookkeeper, having worked for Jen and Roger since 1996 as bookkeeper and occasional Girl Friday, and my partner, Jim, was there as the " downstairs building contractor".

"Jim semi-retired last year and told HRH that this was the last big project of his working life, to which Prince Charles replied that he should not retire completely as it would be a waste and he would shrivel up. When I was introduced, a comment was made that I was the one who kept them all in order, but I can't remember what Prince Charles said to that as I was so over awed!!!!"
