InVoice is for and about members of the ICB.
So I am therefore delighted that we are finally getting members to allow us to feature them in our news columns: In this issue we feature Amy Ayton's Job Profile, Marilyn Maureen achieves Website of the Month, and we feature press photos of Jane Griffiths being introduced to HRH The Prince of Wales as “our bookkeeper, who keeps us all in our places and whom we couldn’t do without.”
Other good news for bookkeepers; following our predictions for the last two years at the regional seminars, government has now launched a wide-ranging consultation of the way that PAYE is collected. I believe that this will be good for bookkeepers in general and for our members in particular. The ICB will submit an official response and you now have your chance to affect what we say. I reported in the last issue of InVoice that our new Level I online examination was being very well received and I am now very pleased to tell you that our Level II and Level III manual examinations at our new PearsonVUE centres are also surging ahead. Early feedback for the hundred or so members who signed up on the first day at the beginning of July, and who have now already taken the examination, has been overwhelmingly positive.
Don’t forget that the new Level I can be downloaded at any time, 365 days per year. The Level II and III can now be taken whenever your local centre has a free appointment, normally Monday to Friday, 9 – 5, every week of the year. As one happy member said: “It’s just like booking cinema tickets”. Our new mock versions of all three examinations are also now available online, on-demand, and are being very well received. The online Level I is an exact replica of the actual Level I. Simulations of the Level II and II examinations are as close as we can get to the actual centre-based examinations and are a very good test of ability. Examination numbers have been growing year-on-year since the ICB was established and we are all very excited to see the numbers grow even faster now that students and members can take examinations even more easily.
I hope you all enjoy reading this issue of InVoice. Don’t forget that we’d also like to hear what you have been getting up to. If you have a good story to tell, or are just proud of what you have achieved, send us a brief email, in the first instance, to our director of communications, Ami Copeland.
Have a good August

| Is your Client too driven? |
An ICB member recently contacted the ICB Helpline on behalf of a client to ask about the European Commission rules on the amount of time a lorry driver can spend behind the wheel. We thought the following information would make a useful inclusion in InVOICE considering how many of you provide services for self-employed construction industry workers. EC rulings on maximum working hours now apply to all workers...
