Loving icb! Just passed level 4 fin stat

I just want to praise the icb for the exams and course content and support.

I have done my aat 13 years ago and worked in practice but I've had 5 years out of work having children. I totally lost my confidence in my abilities and knowledge. I found the icb and starting the exams in self study in January. In the past 2 months I have completed levels 1,2 and 3.

I passed level 4 fin stat today :) and I am awaiting level 4 personal tax result I completed on Friday.

I have 3 children aged 13, 7 and 1 and have loved how I can fit it in with my life. I find the text books easy to understand, the forum great, and exam structure perfect! I would recommend to anyone thinking about it. I'm just applying for my practise license and plan to finish the other 2 level 4 exams soon and payroll and sar tax ASAP. I can't believe what I've been able to achieve in 2 months and have my confidence back with updated knowledge.

Now I think I deserve I glass of wine to celebrate today's result :)

Congratulations on passing your exams, and I wish you all the best when you start your own business.  Did you use a training provider for your studies or did you purchase the study books from ICB and work through them yourself?

Look forward to hearing from you

Chris

Hi Chris

I just bought all the books and worked my way through them, i find there is enough activities in the workbooks to give you the practise, I also did the mock exams for the online exams.

I'm finding level 4 harder but much more in line with the rounded background knowledge you need to be able to see the bigger picture for clients, if that makes sense?

I havent started the payroll one yet but have just bought the 2 levels of sage self study for this which includes a sage exam to be accredited with them also so great value.

I have got experience in an accounts practice though from years ago, so this helped me enormously, hence the speed

Are you thinking of moving onto level 4?

Hi Kelly

I enrolled with Ideal Schools for the Level 4 course over 12 months ago, I have had a quick look at the manual they have supplied and there does seem to be a lot of reading.  With work and other things,I have not started this course yet.  I really do need to make the time to study.

Thanks

Chris

I think the easiest one to start with is financial statements as it's like level 3 manual just harder so the basis is there. I find the icb books more than enough and easy to work to.

the he two tax ones have a great coverage of knowledge that you'd actually use with clients in my experience in practise.

Its well worth doing, easier said than done but maybe take a week off work to do one and  study then just loads of practise questions and the mock and thatll be amble for each exam in my opinion
