New Money Laundering Seminar Dates Announced
The Institute is supporting a series of new Money Laundering seminars being staged across the country over the coming months. Although these new seminars are not being run by the Institute and will not be attended by Institute staff, they support the Institute’s own recent, extremely successful programme of seventeen seminars and will provide an opportunity for those members who were unable to attend the Institute’s own seminars to get first hand understanding of the requirements of the new Money Laundering regulations

Places at the half-day seminars normally cost £85.00 per person but Institute Members can take advantage of a specially arranged price of only £52.00 per person, when booked direct with the Institute on 0845 060 2345.

Members who offer accounting, bookkeeping or payroll services to clients but were unable to attend the Institute’s own seminars, are urged to attend one of the seminars on this new programme. It is much easier to understand the complexities of the new and quite onerous legal requirements when learning at first hand from someone who knows what is required.

The Institute will shortly issue a Guidance Manual to all members who hold a Practising Certificate, which will incorporate a range of forms that must be completed for each new and existing client.

"Some members still appear to be oblivious to the fact that they must hold a Practising Certificate if they offer a bookkeeping service to clients", says Institute chief executive, Garry Carter.

"It is a legal requirement for all bookkeepers to be registered with an HM Treasury appointed Regulatory Authority. The Institute was appointed in the legislation that passed through Parliament in July 2007, which means that members who hold the Institute’s Practising Certificate are automatically covered under the new rules. Unfortunately it would appear that many bookkeepers that are not members of a professional body, or who are with a body that has not been approved by HM Treasury, are unaware of the new legislation and do not realise that they must be registered with someone by 1 July 2008.".

Reserve your place now!

Any member who is offering bookkeeping services to clients but who does not yet have a Practising Certificate, should contact the Institute urgently on 0845 060 2345 to request an application form.
