Widnes fails to score
The Widnes seminar scheduled for 3 May was cancelled due to lack of response, with only six people registering to attend.
“We were very disappointed that the seminar had to be cancelled and not a little surprised” said Institute chief executive, Garry Carter. “This is the first time that we have not been able to attract seventy or eighty students and members to one of our regional seminars. They are proving extremely successful. But we think there could have been a few reasons why it wasn’t successful: Firstly, it was the day after a Bank Holiday and a lot of people rang in to say they couldn’t get time off work. Secondly, there was an important football match taking place in Liverpool on the same evening. We think that watching Liverpool’s advance in the UEFA cup was more appealing, which probably explains why there was not a single registration from Liverpool”.
The Institute is rescheduling the seminar for later in the year – hopefully avoiding Bank Holidays and football matches.
