Easy learning seminar lands on Luton

Students and Members tuck into buffet lunch
Students and Members tuck into buffet lunch
More than fifty members and students attended the Institute’s one-day regional seminar at the Chiltern Hotel in Luton on 25 April.

Jacquie Mount and Leslie Ellis gave students a complete revision course, whilst members discussed current topics. Nigel Fox from the Tenon Group gave a dvd presentation on insolvency and how to assist clients whose businesses are experiencing difficulties. Nigel explained what signs to look for and the processes available to ensure that the problems don’t lead to the eventual downfall of the business. After lunch members had the opportunity to discuss ways of upgrading their knowledge so that they can offer increased services to their clients.

“Students really enjoy these seminars”, said Leslie Ellis. “They like meeting fellow students and talking to those who have already qualified as book-keepers to hear what work is available once they have qualified”

Some of the members had already been in business for several years, whilst others were just starting out, whereas others were employed as in-company book-keepers. The open discussion after the seminar was very useful to the members and the Institute. It highlighted several areas where the Institute had been helpful and gave the Institute a few useful suggestions on how to extend the service even further.
