Any comments on what help or support is needed for members in Northern Ireland, everything seems dreadfully quiet over here, any comments welcome, and can hopefully be acted upon

I will hopefully be organising a meeting soon, an informal discussion to see what help and support members need in their career, I have recently got a job, surprisingly one I didn't apply for, in a company looking for a good bookkeeper, they had two accountants previously who left the accounts in a complete mess, so there is a need for good bookkeepers, if anyone is interested in attending an informal get together put a post on the forum, I will put something on the events part of the website when i see who is interested.
By the way I was the one person who booked a place for the meeting in belfast.
I would hope to have our meeting outside Belfast, in a more central location to try to attract more people.

I would be interested in being able to discuss issues with other people, but I am in two mind whether to actually upgrade my membership or not. I have been told by ICB that to start my own business I need PI insurance, a practice licence and a passport. But after talking to my local business centre they tell me as long as I don't use ICB's name I can start my own business. I don't have a passport and do not have the funds at the minute to get one. So I really don't know what to do. What are the benefits of actually been a member of ICB compared to just going independent?

If you wish to contact me to discuss things my contact details are available on the practice directory under Local Business Service

I have asked Ami Copeland to conatct all the Northern Ireland students and members to see if we can get a few people together, but I am still willing to meet up with even one person if it is of any help, feel free to contact me, I have a practise certificate, been there done that, and want to help others here get to where they want to be. I am sure we can help make your career or business a success

James: I don't know if i'm breaking the rules by putting my contact details on here, if I am it's not intentional, i'm sure you'll keep me right on that one

Thanks James, I have edited the post.

I was trying to get something informal organised just to get something moving, i'll maybe just organise an informal event in the normal way and see what response I get
