VAT Rate Change to 20% and mailshots

Hi all

With the change in the VAT rate has anyone taken to opportunity to mailshot their client base and potential clients. Thgis could be a topical way to get in touch.

With that in mind I would like to canvass opinions on whether or not it would be a good idea for the memebers in practice to pool together articles for a newletter we could then send out to clients. It should containb topical issues that require "further guidance" promoting our further useful services and again would be a good tool to advertise services to new clients.

your thoughts please.......................

Really good idea Stuart !
Amazed no-one has answered in four months.
Maybe the continuity aspect of e-flyers is the problem - what material will retain interest.

I'm in industry, but will be looking to set up on my own, or in partnership next year - my employer is pushing everything to low cost India, and the "r" word is looming.

Contributing a series of short, sharp VAT articles to a project like this should give potential clients a taste of the quality of service they could expect. Keeping HMRC at bay, and making a generous crust, is why many small businesses would engage a bookkeeper at all.

I will contact you at the back end of the year on this idea if it does not take off naturally in the meantime. I can tell from your posts that you are business aware too, so the ideas should flow !
