Hi all

I need some help? I work for a company as a Credit Controller & Payroll, I don't know quite where to start but the company are invoice discounting & i'm worried that the company are assigning invoices to the bank just for access of drawing down money from the bank, without the goods going out? but i can't prove it i know this is freud if this is happening but don't know how to prove it, i work under an accountant who has been taken on as financial director. It's causing me so much stress.  they make sure advice notes aren't dated, but when i'm trying to collect the money off customers they are telling me that the goods were delivered as much as 3 months later. Any advice please

Hi Linda

This is indeed a difficult one. If the company are rasing invoices for the sake of drawing down funds against the invoice from the bank then it is indeed Fraud there are strict rules regarding invoice discounting as to when an invoice can be raised to prevent this very thing.

My advice is to contact the ICB and get their advice (This will cover your back if things go pear shaped As the ICB will know you have uncovered this and taken all reasonable steps to resolve it)

But from memory when Factoring or Invoice Discounting no invoice should be raised until the goods have been dispatched and if an order is partially shipped on the the goods shipped casn be billed not the entire order. There may be exceptions that why I say speak to the ICB for their advice.

Kind Regards
Stuart

Hi There,
I'm undertaking a charities bookkeeping, it is my first experience in work even though it is voluntary we all know how it is important to get the books right.   What is consirning me is the time it takes me, would you say a compleat set of books and financial statements finished in about 7 working days is ok.
I know everybody does accounts in their own time, but would like to know if I should speed up in order to make a business work.
Thanks
